Wandering Thoughts

“The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD;
he directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases” (Prov. 21:1).

If your thoughts wander during your prayer time, instead of trying to force them back into your pre-set agenda, try following them. Perhaps the Lord has another agenda.

God is so good. He gives us the privilege of interceding for others. Sometimes, when I'm praying, if I listen for the Holy Spirit's prompting, He puts the name of someone or a situation in my head so that I can intercede. I don't always know anything at all about what that person is dealing with, or what's happening in the specific situation but just praying God's Will is all I have to do. It renews my faith everytime He trusts me to pray for someone like that. Just listen and see if those wanderings of your mind might just be the Holy Spirit whispering in your ear.

I have been a christian for 45years but have begun to experience prayer in a whole new way thanks to your Bible study "Live a Praying Life'.
The comments I have just read concerning "the wandering mind" while praying are uplifting because I also find myself in that same situation, often. I will now begin to see where God takes my thoughts and not beat myself up every time I find myself getting off course.
I praise God for giving Jennifer the insight and knowlegde and for sharing this wisdom.

That is a very good point Jennifer, I will keep that in mind. It could change my prayer time from a chore into an adventure!
And I love adventures with the King!
God Bless you I pray all is well with you and yours.
